What are the odds?? I called the wrong number, the person sounded a little different so I said, “Kris?”
Yes, she said.
How are you? I asked.
Did you make it through the hurricane okay?
Long pause. Hurricane?
Yes, you are in Florida aren’t you?
No, this is Kris (forgot).
I had the wrong number (wrong area code)! We exhanged a good laugh, talked about what the odds are of calling someone with the wrong number with the same name. It gave me a good chuckle and a fun interaction with a stranger early in the day. I love things like that in life!
My job requies me to make quite a few phone calls, and that is okay. But since my illness, I don’t like when people call with something that could be put down on paper (email or text). Honestly, I never have liked phone calls, since almost always I am doing something and dislike the interruption, but since my illness a few years ago I truly dread when my phone rings, I think because I don’t feel well and it takes all I have just to keep things moving forward. I don’t mind in-person meetings or emails, but hate phone calls. Go figure… Unfortunately, so many of my peers insist on phone calls (especially in Sales Management) rather tahn emails, so that is a bummer.
I mailed a postcard from a small village in Ireland and was told that it would take a week to reach home. Which means the postcard will travel from a small village halfway across the world to Seattle in just 7 days. Increbible.
