A Tale of Two Hikes – Part 6

The trail winds higher and higher, at times forming Esses to allow easier ascent up steep hills.  Meanwhile, the waterfalls growing taller and more forceful.

It is now after 1pm.  I should turn back.  But I am having such a marvelous time.  Just a little bit farther…

I pass more falls…

Then suddenly, a small clearing, and high above I can see Paulina Peak.  I know from experience that seeing the peak this close means Paulina Falls — and the top of the trail — can’t be too far off.  I am feeling excited, adrenaline is kicking in and I continue on – just a little longer.

The trail climbs higher.  The water falls farther below, but seems more violent and urgent.  Surely it can’t be too much farther!
