Was the by the campus of San Jose State. University. Lots of small houses and shops there, with people hanging out on their porch to escape the heat. I met a few people along the street who I thought were friendly and great. Just a mile or two away, the streets were cleaner and wider, there were huge (sprawling) office complexes and more than a few luxury cars. I always find it strange that I like the more urban (smaller and older shops) areas more than the sprawling suburbs. That has always been true for me – I love being around genuine people and don’t like the phony feeling of upscale hubs.
