A long drive-thru line is a journey through Hell

I hate Drive Thru lines.  To me, and this is my humble opinion, it is the epitome of everything that is wrong in the modern world.  We get in a fossil-fuel burning automobile, drive to a fast food place with lowly-paid workers where the food/coffee is brought by huge Food Inc. like suppliers, don’t bother to get out of our car to get our food, and — and this is the part I hate most — are trapped in the line once we enter. Today, Son R asked me to drive through the coffee drive-thru on our way to his event, so rather than support a local company we pulled up into a massive Corporate America Drive Thru joint then were trapped in a walled-in drive thru line that took 10 minutes to work our way through.  Blech.  Yuck.

I’ve always said that hell for me will be a sailboat.  But I may have stood corrected — drive thru lines are right up there… 🙂
