Remembering the good old days of being on hold for 10 minutes

I remember calling big service providers (such as a telephone provider) in the 80s with a question/request and sitting on hold for 10 minutes, which was really annoying.  Today, we have automated speech recognition systems where for 10 minutes we answer a series of annoying questions (and repeating the answers when the system doesn’t understand)) to be routed “to the right person.”  In the old days, we listened to music for those 10 minutes, now we are reminded over and over how important our call is to the provider while answering all those questions.  Sheesh, back in the 80s, I never thought I’d long for those less stressful/annoying days of sitting on hold!!!
